Caesar Salad vs. Caprese Salad

Caesar Salad
1 head of Romaine Lettuce
Shredded Parmesan
Cesar dressing
*Vegetables, Calcium*
*takes only 10 minutes to make*

Sautéed  Parmesan Pesto Chicken added to Caesar Salad
Brown Rice with Olive Oil, garlic, chicken, broccoli, and Herbs
*Carbohydrates, Vegetables, Lean Protein, Calcium*
*30 minutes to make*

Healthy alternations: #fixthedish

  • Fresh lettuce vs. Bag Lettuce
                                   Bag Lettuce contains pesticides

  • Deli Cheese vs. Processed/Pre-shredded
Shredded Cheese has additives to give it a longer shelf life

  • Frigerated Dressing vs. Shelf Dressing
In order for dressing to sit on a shelf, trans fats are added

Caprese Salad
On the lighter side:
2 Roma tomatoes (garden fresh)
Soft Mozzarella cheese (deli)
4 Basil leaves (garden fresh)
*Herbs, Fruit, Calcium*
*5 minutes to make*
3 Good Choices:
  • Tomatoes and Basil fresh from my Garden. I know not everyone can do that, so venture out to a local farmer's market or enjoy fresh produce from your supermarket.\
  • Shredded cheese is not as healthy or fresh as Deli cheese due to preservatives used to prevent molding. Try going to a local deli or buying a block at the supermarket.
  • Try white cheeses, which do not contain harmful dyes like in yellow cheeses. White cheese is more natural for the body.
I know not everyone can garden, but there's plenty of healthy alterations and good choices you can make to fix your dish! I may seem like someone who is super healthy, but I'm the same as you and I'm just trying and learning more everyday on how to nourish my own body and help you do the same.

Please let us know in the comments or on social media if you try our dish! We will like and share!
